Kim’s therapy treatments include one or a combination of electrical nerve stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, stretching, massage, acupressure, and hot and cold therapy. Physical Therapy is excellent when used alone and great when used in conjunction with other veterinary medicines and therapies.
Therapeutic Services
E-STIM
The use of therapeutic electrical currents to decrease pain in soft tissues, relieve muscle tension and soreness, increase blood flow, stimulate tendon fiber repair, reduce edema, and facilitate muscle contraction. It is great for conditions such as soreness of the back and gluts, lymphangitis, arthritis, tendon lesions and stiff lumbar or sacroiliac regions.
Therapeutic ultrasound
The use of high-frequency sound waves to promote tissue repair with thermal and non-thermal applications to deep or shallow tissues. It is great for wounds, tendon lesions, scar tissue and improving joint range of motion.
Stretching
A manual technique that improves the muscle’s ability to stretch thereby preventing injury due to overextension, increases blood flow and body awareness. It is great to use as part of a warm-up as a preventative measure and after performance as part of a cool-down.
Massage
A manual technique that breaks up adhesions, encourages relaxation, and soothes muscle tension. It is great when used after an e-stim treatment on sore or tense muscles and after therapeutic ultrasound over scar tissue or tendon adhesions.
Iontophoresis
technique using a small electric charge to deliver a medicine or other chemical through the skin. Basically an injection without the needle. The technical description of this process is a non-invasive method of propelling high concentrations of a charged substance, normally medication or bioactive agents, transdermally by repulsive electromotive force using a small electrical charge.
Phonophoresis
Phonophoresis is the use of ultrasound to enhance the delivery of topically applied drugs. Phonophoresis has been used in an effort to enhance the absorption of topically applied analgesics and anti-inflammatory agents through the therapeutic application of ultrasound.
